“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” These words from Plato rung through during John H. Woodson Jr. High School's 2019 Spring Recital on March 27, 2019. The recital started promptly at 7:00 p.m. at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts in Frederiksted, St. Croix.
Students playing a variety of instruments to include drums, flutes, saxophones, trumpets and the bass guitar performed solos, duets and trios of several classical pieces ranging from Minuet by Bach to the negro spiritual, Wade in the Water.
Principal Rodney Moorehead gave special gratitude to Music Teacher Mario Thomas who, although retired, continues to impart quality music instruction to the students. "It warms my heart each time I pass by the classroom and hear the students play,” said Principal Moorehead.
The students’ passion and commitment was evident and was appreciated. The school's Principal, faculty members and parents thoroughly enjoyed the students' performances.
