St. Croix Educational Complex High School Science National Honor Society (SNHS) members participated in a hike to Bodkin Mill on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Twenty-eight SNHS students, three teachers, and two parents participated in the hike, which began at 7:00 a.m. and ended around 11:00 a.m.
The purpose of the hike was to introduce the students to medicinal plants on St. Croix and their uses. The hike was conducted by none other than Professor Olassie Davis of the University of the Virgin Islands. The students were able to hear folklores associated with many local medicinal plants. They also learned of the history of Bodkin Mill and its trail.
The hike is the first learning activity the Science National Honor Society has done outside of school hours since the debut of the induction ceremony on March 6, 2019.
